Detention Attorney
Catholic Legal Services Archdiocese of Miami, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Detention Attorney in the Miami Office.
Starting Date: July 1, 2013
Responsibilities:
- Provide group and individual orientations to unrepresented detainees at Krome Detention Center through the Legal Orientation Program (LOP)
- Refer people with relief to pro bono volunteers
- Conduct regular workshops to unrepresented individuals to teach them how to represent themselves and monitor the cases of such individual
- Train and supervise pro bono lawyers and law students, reporting activities to LOP funders and maintain compliance will all funding requirements
- Maintain a select caseload of complex immigration, separate from the LOP
- Represent the agency in community meetings as well as with government entities, professional and advocacy groups and funding sources
- Serve as liaison to the pro bono community and develop a network of private attorneys willing to accept referrals pro bono
- Perform legal research, analyze and apply legal principles, facts, evidence and precedents to complex legal problems, as necessary
- Work independently, present statements of law, facts, and arguments clearly, logically and forcefully, both in written and oral formats
- In the course of zealous representation, observe confidentiality, objectivity and the highest ethical standards
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school within the U.S.
- Member in good standing of any State Bar Association, (FL preferred)
- Fundamental knowledge of immigration law court procedures
- Court experience strongly preferred
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Appreciation of multicultural immigrant communities

Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and a Florida administrative credential or be eligible for an Educational Leadership credential
- A candidate with a strong background may be considered if she or he begins the licensing process this summer.
- Must have a minimum of seven years of elementary school teaching experience, preferably in a Catholic school.
- Administrative experience as a principal in a Catholic elementary school is preferred; administrative experience in the public sector or high school may be considered.

Maintenance Supervisor, St. Louis Covenant Church and School
St. Louis Covenant Church and School in South Dade County has an opening for a Maintenance Supervisor. This position is responsible for the execution of tasks, either directly or through volunteers or service providers, that support the operations, maintenance, repair and improvement of the grounds, facilities, and related equipment of all properties of church. Responsibilities include custodial duties as well as basic building, repair, and installation tasks in carpentry, plumbing, painting, mechanical repairs, structural repairs, lighting, heating and ventilation, setup and breakdown for events.
The Maintenance Supervisor plans and directs building and grounds improvements that ensure that the facility’s appearance positively reflects and enhances parish in the community. The Maintenance Supervisor performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Qualifications:
- High-school diploma or G.E.D.; seven years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technical or trade school coursework in building technology and/or HVAC a plus
- Basic knowledge and skills in some of the building trades; Universal Certification a plus.
- Basic PC skills, including ability to navigate the Windows OS, enter data into system and perform e-mail functions in MS Outlook, required.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, MSDS, Hazard Communication labels and safety warnings.

Parish Accountant
The Archdiocese of Miami is searching for an experienced Parish Accountant who will provide accounting support to Archdiocesan entities, parishes and schools. This individual will be mission- and customer service-oriented who will perform all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Responsibilities:
- Provide exemplary customer service by phone or in person to entity bookkeepers, pastors, school principals, employees, donors, vendors, contributors and administration who contact the Archdiocese of Miami Pastoral Center Accounting Office.
- Resolve accounting issues related to journal entries, bank reconciliations, income statements, and balance sheets.
- Assist entities with processing of payroll and payments.
- Organize and perform accounting trainings.

- Assist in the process of quarterly review and consolidation of entities.
- Serve as a liaison between parishes/schools and the Finance Office
- Provide Logos support to all entities of the Archdiocese of Miami.
Qualifications:

- A candidate with a Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Management, Economics, Business Administration and 3 years’ professional accounting experience within the last seven years may be considered.

Controller - Immaculate Conception School
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and School in Hialeah has an opening for a full-time Controller who will report directly to the pastor and be responsible for providing the day-to-day fiscal/financial oversight for both the parish and school. The successful candidate will be a person of strong ethics; a proactive, hands-on individual contributor with the ability to work autonomously and at the same time communicate timely information to the pastor and school principal. The Controller performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; may be required to work evenings as needed according to financial schedules
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and implement accounting infrastructure such as Cash accounts, Payroll, Vendors, and Bank Reconciliation, developing policies and procedures for the same, according to GAAP and Archdiocesan policy.
- Prepare and maintain all financial reports, books and records for the parish and school.
- Monitor and forecast cash flow and produce financial reports.
- Balance accounts. Resolve accounting issues related to Journal Entries, Bank Reconciliations, Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and submit reconciliation to Rector and/or financial council.
- Process payroll, monthly / quarterly / yearly payroll tax forms and returns, year-end W-2s, 1099s, quarterly UCT-6
- Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Facilitate Archdiocese of Miami auditing process, including preparation of necessary records and reports.
- Work with Archdiocesan Office of Finance and Office of Human Resources to ensure that appropriate documentation is maintained in payroll, accounting and personnel files. Secure and maintain personnel and financial records according to federal, state, and any other applicable regulations.
- Assist with parish and school tasks as assigned with confidentiality and discretion, demonstrating excellent internal and external customer service.
Qualifications:
- • Bachelor degree in Accounting or related field, with 5 years of professional experience that includes working with vendors and RFP processes.
- • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and accounting software programs (i.e., Logos, Quickbooks, ParishSoft, etc.)
- • Excellent verbal and written English-language communication skills including good spelling and grammar; fluency in Spanish strongly preferred .
- • Must be supportive of the mission, vision, values and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church and have knowledge of its structures, functions and institutions.
- • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting practices for non-profit organizations

Stewardship and Development Administrative Assistant - Our Lady of the Lakes
Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church is searching for a part-time Stewardship and Development Administrative Assistant who will provide administrative support to the Director of Development through activities oriented to promoting stewardship and developing funding for Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and School.
Schedule: Twenty-five (25) hours per week, varying according to events but otherwise flexible.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Director of Development in stewardship and fundraising initiatives to build the financial health of the parish and school, including the ABCD annual appeal, direct mail, fundraising events, obtaining funding from grants, volunteer resource development, school alumni relations and media appeals.
- Track incoming donations and identify and report on sources of donations and trends and patterns of giving. Acknowledge donors.
- Coordinate fundraising events: working with chairs of key annual fundraisers to promote the events, coordinate the logistics of and solicit volunteers to work the events, and evaluate and report on event outcomes.
- Promote development initiatives and events, fundraising campaigns and stewardship messages through the parish Web site, weekly print bulletin, and social media.
- Work with supervisor, pastor, finance council, development board and school principal to write summaries that serve as scripts for communicating a compelling case to support the development efforts of the parish and school.
- Research and compile information on potential sources of grants, matching fund donations, and other grant and giving programs.
Qualifications:
