"Camino de Santiago: Two Perspectives", an art exhibit featuring works by Laura Luna and Silvia Lizama, will be on display at Barry University's Gato Gallery from Sept. 11-Dec. 5, 2010.

An opening reception will be held Friday, Sept. 17, from 7-9 p.m.

The Andy Gato Gallery is located in Thompson Hall, second floor, on the campus of Barry University, 11300 N.E. Second Ave., Miami Shores.

ACND's Gallery of Art Presents: "East of 95"

The ACND Gallery's first exhibit of the new season will feature a selection of photographic works from Simon Hare’s new project "East of 95" – Miami's historic Buena Vista area next to the Design District.

Opening reception will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 7-11p.m. and the exhibition will continue throughout the end of October.

Hare has created a family-friendly exhibit designed to educate and promote conversations about his unique style of portrait photography that unveils the splendor of an eccentric global family. Educational information will accompany each photo.

Free but RSVP is required for the reception and reservations for school groups.

Hours are 8am-4pm Monday through Friday or other times by appointment. More information about ACND's community cultural offerings can be found on the school's website www.acnd.net.

Human Trafficking Conference

Ambassador at large CdeBaca will join Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen Monday, September 13, 2010 at Miami’s St. Thomas University Moot Court Room for a unique public/private partnership dialogue to combat human trafficking. The conference will consist of two panels:
• 9:00 am – 10:15 am, with representatives from the private/civil society and
• 10:15 am – 11:30 am with participating governmental guests

Featured speaker is Ellen Bachman, Past President of the National Council of Catholic Women, speaking on women’s role in positions of leadership in the church, family, and community. The MACCW Legislation Commission will present valuable information on the Catholic Days at the Capital Lobby Trip scheduled for March 2011.

St. Sebastian Catholic Church will be holding its 5th Annual Oktoberfest celebration on Friday, Oct. 15 at 5:30 PM. Join your friends and neighbors for a great family event. This German-themed celebration allows attendees the opportunity to enjoy music, dancing, food and drink with traditional German fare. Festivities include music by a local German dance band, Alpine rock climbing wall and childrens field games in the Olympic Village with Coach Hill.

This Annual parish-sponsored event was initiated in 2006 and has grown into a much-anticipated festival each October.

Adult dinner tickets are $15 and childrens dinner tickets are $10.
